Many of us often say that we want to learn a new language, but often we come up with excuses and reasons why we can't. This little app though will help you learn a new language while playing games. Duolingo is a fun way for you to learn a new language, or brush up on a language you haven't used for a while and it is simple as playing a game. It will say the words and phrases aloud so you can hear the language spoken and will have you translate the words from one language to another. It is great for kids and adults and very easy to use. Learning while playing games--it is the best of both worlds.

If you are looking for something with a little more depth, you should try the library's language learning database Mango. I absolutely adore Mango. It includes multiple languages, and will allow you to record your pronunciation of words in the language you are learning so you can match your inflection to the speaker's. It is a marvelous database which you can access for free with your library card. Mango can be used either on the computer or by using an app that is available for both Android and iOS devices. You can find Mango on our "Research It" tab on our homepage listed under our "Top 10 Databses" or simply by clicking this link https://connect.mangolanguages.com/kokomo/login?u=740994.

Vocabulary Spelling City is a fun way to learn spelling and vocabulary words by playing engaging games using standard and unique word lists. The free app includes ten games such as Spelling TestMe. This is a spelling test that reads each word aloud, uses it in a sentence, and repeats the word. Students can work at their own pace and receive instant feedback upon submitting the completed test.
Another popular game is Test-N-Teach. This game gives students the opportunity to learn as they practice. Students are challenged to create a monument. The better they spell, the better their monument!
Want to add your own word list? Custom word lists may be entered by registered members which is free through www.spellingcity.com.
